Looking for October - March dates? In the cooler months we recommend booking a private lesson instead. This gives us more flexibility with venue should the North Sea be too rough.

FAQs

What will I see and do?

After a briefing from your guide and a relaxed warm up, we’ll spend the first half of your lesson learning the skills you need to get started. Our coaching is always student centred and environmentally considerate. We’ll cover:

  • Your equipment, what you are carrying and why

  • Lifting, carrying and launching your SUP with minimal environmental disturbance

  • A brief introduction on safe or suitable conditions for paddling

  • Efficient forward paddling, making every stroke count

  • Initiating and executing perfect turns

  • Stopping and reversing, using backward strokes

  • Manoeuvring around obstacles and spotting submerged hazards

  • Rescuing yourself and assisting others in an emergency

Depending on conditions we’ll also aim to depart the bay so you can consolidate your skills and apply them to real world challenges. At the end of the lesson there will be the option for a short sea swim too.
